USTA and Arthritis Foundation Partner for 2012 Arthritis Walk

May 18, 2012 01:58 PM
The USTA and the Arthritis Foundation have partnered together for the 10th Anniversary celebration of the NYC Arthritis Walk!  The 2012 Arthritis Walk will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at Historic Battery Park in Manhattan.  The Walk is the Arthritis Foundation’s signature event that takes place in communities nationwide to raise funds and awareness to fight arthritis, one of the nation’s leading causes of disability.
This year’s Walk features a three-mile and one-mile course.  Registration will open at 8:30AM and the Walk will begin at 10:00AM.  Our participants will walk in honor of friends and family members with arthritis, create team t-shirts, bring their dogs (who get arthritis too!) and engage in the many activities and entertainment at the event.  The Walk will pay special recognition to those with arthritis by presenting a blue HERO hat and pin to all arthritis heroes.
The prevalence of arthritis is now surging, affecting 50 million or one in five adults and 300,000 children. This team-focused event is a fun and effective way to support the Arthritis Foundation in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases while honoring loved ones who are living with the disease.  For many of our corporate teams, it is a way for a company to improve employee health and to show their commitment to the arthritis community.  Each year, more and more walkers are joining in the fight against arthritis.
